Mid-range: Olympus Evolt E-510 ($650). The 10 megapixel E-510 has image stabilization, a dust removal system and 19 scene modes. A big plus is Live View, which lets users compose shots using the LCD screen (most SLR digital cameras require using the eyepiece viewfinder for shooting to conserve battery life). Uses compact flash cards, micro drives or xD cards. Includes rechargeable lithium ion battery pack. Splurge: Nikon D300 ($1,700). The high-resolution 12.3 megapixel D300 is fast on the draw, with six frames per second, and has a self-cleaning dust sensor. Exceptionally accurate 51-point scene recognition metering system quickly tracks for automatic focus, exposure and white balance. Compose pictures with the eyepiece viewfinder or the 3-inch LCD screen, a first for Nikon digital SLRs.
Extra! UIdaho Student Found Shot to Death
I had avoided doing so because I had heard getting into the show required great dedication and frankly, I didn't think i had the time. I have since purchased the first three seasons, having watched the first two seasons in less than two weeks time. I am half way through the 3rd season and not looking back. My question for the forum: do you watch this show? Do you find it as thrilling, exciting and thought provoking as I do? Jack Bauer for president '08? I really need to know if I am alone with this as my sleep pattern has been significantly altered since becoming a "24 freak"?! Also, I figured this show may be popular with the HBO crowd so advice from you regulars is much appreciated! JimmyMAC .
Leo and Bar Are Back (Her Especially) in Beachwear
Leonardo DiCaprio must be voting absentee, because right now he's living the good life with his hot girlfriend Bar Refaeli down in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. It's almost a whole month since their last beach vacation, so it's understandable that he feels the need for another one. And it's not like it's any big secret why he would want to have his lady friend in a bikini as much as possible. It looks like while Leo was mostly enamored by his girl's assets, he also made sure to keep up to date on his BlackBerry and document his vacation on the digital camera. Most of all though, how much are you loving his beach hat? .
Anniversary 'Thriller' CD can't beat original
Such bonuses would have been ideal for the 25th anniversary edition of Thriller, which doesn't even come with liner notes. The state-of-the-art-remastering job of the original album is nice, revealing just how intricately layered the production is. But previous digital versions of Thriller, which won a Grammy in 1983 for best-engineered non-classical album, were fine. The new remixes do absolutely nothing to buttress the album's legacy. The retooled songs - especially "The Girl is Mine" by will.i.am and "Billie Jean" by West - are unimaginative with generic hip-hop beats and pointless rapping (that would be from will.i.am) added to Jones' already superlative tracks. And Akon's slowed-down version of "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'" sounds as nasally and overly processed as any of his own hits.
US Wants New Iran Sanctions Fast
Iran claims its program is peaceful and insists it has the same right to enrichment technology as nuclear nations such as the United States. The 11-page report gave Iran a relatively clean bill of health on explaining the origin of traces of enriched uranium in a military facility; experiments with polonium, which can also be used in a weapons program; and purchases on the nuclear black market. In such cases, "the agency has been able to conclude that answers provided by Iran ... are (either) consistent with its findings (or) ... not inconsistent with its findings," said the report, in careful language that would allow it to renew its investigation into the issues. But it said Teheran had rejected as irrelevant some material forwarded by the agency that purportedly shows it working on tests of missile trajectories and high explosives, and research on a missile re-entry vehicle , activities that would most likely be part of weapons development.
Candidates offer final messages before Iowa caucus
I have always admired your family and the things they stood for. I was in college when that fatal day came and we no longer had our inspiration, your brother. I am disappointed in who you are endorsing. To think about all the times that the Clintons were here for you, and now you just put them aside. I think about it, and I thougt you were above the good old boys. Not so sure about that now. Hillary, a women. Maybe that just does not sit well with you Kennedys. I just don't understand. She is a great lady that certainly helped your party out by staying with Bill. The party owes her more than a senate seat. She should have all of you out there shouting her attributes. It was alright for Bill to be used to get votes for our new governor. He also has a short memory. I will have a hard time voting for either one of you because of this.
Power pole knocked down after crash
A crash at Old St. Augustine Road and Pine View Drive knocked out a power pole, but no one was seriously injured. The intersection was blocked off for several hours after the 3 a.m. crash so the power pole could be repaired, but it is now open, said Lt. Ken Bergstrom, of the Tallahassee Police Department. .
