| Keynote bloopers and practical jokes
Five weeks and a day from the time I'm typing this sentence, Steve Jobs will take the stage at the Moscone West expo hall to kickoff the 2008 Macworld Conference & Expo with his annual keynote. I think it's a pretty safe argument that Jobs' Expo keynote is the most anticipated event of the calendar year among Mac enthusiasts. And for good reason—in just one 90-minute-give-or-take speech, you get exciting revelations, carefully crafted showmanship, and (more often than not) a boatload of new product releases. You also get the occasional glitch or blunder. And now, thanks to an enterprising iMovie user and Web 2.0 technologies, you can relive those unscripted keynote moments that Apple would just as soon have you forget. The 4:40-second “Apple Keynote Bloopers" video— posted on YouTube and embedded below—is credited to Macintologist, and it's pretty much a collection of everything that can go wrong doing exactly that.
Engineered Mosquitoes Could Wipe Out Dengue Fever
Scientists at a British biotech company said they have evidence that their genetically modified mosquitoes, which are programmed for sudden, early death, can control the spread of dengue fever. Dengue is carried by mosquitoes and is the scourge of urban areas in the developing world, much as malaria is in rural regions. The company, Oxitec, said it can decimate mosquito populations by breeding genetically modified male mosquitoes, then releasing them to mate with wild females. Their offspring contain lethal genes that kill them young, before they can reproduce. Company officials told Wired News that their latest test results show that the genetically modified bugs can breed just as well as wild ones. "We will be able to control dengue through controlling the mosquitoes that transmit it, especially in large urban areas," said the company's chief scientist Luke Alphey.
Xbox360 Game console: The N-Gen gaming console!
Gaming online is no less than an addiction for today's youth. Those who love it just don't care about the rest of the world. That is the reason why Microsoft has launched its second video gaming console by the name of Xbox360. It was developed in collaboration with IBM, ATI and SIS. The Xbox live allows players to play online and download games. A successor of the Xbox, the Xbox360 has already made its mark and is very popular among the video game lovers. It is giving a tough competition to Sony's Play station 3 and the Nintendo Wii. It was officially announced in 2005 and since then is gaining popularity. The Xbox 360 is available in three standard variants; the "Xbox 360 Arcade", the "Xbox 360", and the "Xbox 360 Elite". During its launch, the Xbox 360 was available in two configurations: the "Xbox 360" and the "Xbox 360 Core." The Elite package was launched later the "Xbox 360 Arcade" replaced the "Xbox 360 Core" in October 2007.

Covering the Collapse: Live-Blogging from Minneapolis
I borrowed her digital camera and snapped photos while she shot tape for 12 to 15 minutes. Then we set up for the standup. Before she rolled, I went over what I hoped to do: start tight on a twisted steel support and zoom out as I described the scene on the bridge, then move from the most compelling sites, north to south, narrating as she lingered on each spot, then back to me for an on-camera close. It was going to be a lengthy as-live and there wasn't much room for error, since the clock was ticking. Fortunately, we did it in one take, then shot a tease. There was still time left, so Cappy got some more b-roll until the call came to get back on the bus. Sometimes we get so focused on the task at hand we lose sight of the bigger picture. I always make efforts not to let that happen, and as I stood at the railing I tried to soak up the scene below.
